Unit 4 Activities

Analysis of this unit: This is the fourth unit of this book. It mainly talks about the animals and the activities the animals can do. It enables students to master more names of animals and the activities. 

Analysis of the Ss: Students have just learnt English for three months. They only know some words about our body, colors and animals. They are so young, so it’s difficult for them to say long sentences. And they can’t keep their attention for a long time. The teacher must motivate their interests and encourage students to be happy to say.

Lesson 24


Analysis of this lesson: 
This is the third lesson of this unit. Students have already learnt some names of animals and the activities. This lesson supplies one name of animals and two activities. And it enables students to master and change the key sentence structures.


Analysis of the Ss: Students have already known some words about the animals and the activities. This lesson supplies more. They also know how to ask using “who”, this lesson enables students to review and to change. They are interested in animals and the activities, so the teacher must encourage them to say and do actions actively.
Teaching aims:
Knowledge aims: master the words: bird, fly, sing. And master the key structures: Who can sing\ fly? – Birds can fly\ sing in the sky\tree.
Ability aims: students can talk about the animals and activities they can do correctly and fluently.
Emotional aims: Birds are our good friends, so please love and protect birds. 

Important points  difficult points : 
The new words: bird, fly, sing
The key sentence structures: Who can sing\ fly? 

Birds can sing\ fly in the trees\ sky.

1. Greetings! Say “hello” to students.
2. Brainstorming: Show a picture of the forest; enable Ss to say some animals.
3. Guessing game: Show 4 animals quickly, enable Ss to guess what they are. Then divide Ss into 4 groups.(rabbit group, fish group, monkey group, frog group)
4. Free talk: Who can jump\ swim\ climb\ hop? Enable Ss to answer correctly.
5. Chant: “can”
1. Greetings! Say “hello” to the teacher.
2. Think and say as many animals as they can.
3. Try to guess quickly and correctly. Get their own groups clearly.


4. Listen , think and answer. 


5. Chant.
1.出示森林图片,创设情境,利用头脑风暴游戏调动学生已学知识,为新授内容做铺垫。
2.进行分组,明确加分机制,培养学生小组合作意识。
3.歌谣热身,复习所学句型,活跃课堂气氛,激发兴趣。
Presentation and drill 
(20m-22m)
1. Show the picture and teach the word “bird”. Enable Ss to read.
2. Show the picture and teach the word “birds”. Enable Ss to know the differences between the two words.
3. Show the picture and teach the sentence “Birds can fly.” Enable Ss to say and do the actions. The add “Birds can fly in the sky.” Enable Ss to say.
4. Show the sound of the bird and teach the sentence “Birds can sing.” Enable students to say and do the action. Then add “birds can sing in the tree.”
5. Drill: chant: Birds can sing, birds can sing, birds can sing in the tree, in the tree, in the tree, birds can sing in the tree. (Then change into “fly”.)
6. Drill: ask and answer. Show more pictures of animals and ask “Who can sing/ fly/ swim/ hop/ climb?” Enable Ss to answer.
7. Drill: Pair work to talk about the animals and the activities.
eg. ---Who can fly? --- Birds can fly.
8. Do the exercise on P55. Then check.


(Give the students who did well points for their groups)
1. Look at the picture and try to get the meaning. Then read after the teacher.
2. Try to get the difference between “bird” and “birds”.
3. Look at the picture and say the sentence after the teacher. Try to get the meaning of the sentence and do the actions.

4. Listen carefully and say the sentence after the teacher. Get the meaning and do the actions.


5. Chant after the teacher. Then chant in groups.


6. Look at the pictures and listen carefully to answer the questions.


7. Pair work to talk about the animals and the activities. 

8. Listen carefully and try to do the exercises correctly.

1. Do the action and say “Look, I can jump.” Enable Ss to know the meaning. Then ask “Who can jump?” Enable Ss to answer “I can jump.” Then change into other words and do the actions. (sing/ fly/ swim)
2. Sing the song. (use the tune of “Happy New Year”) Birds can sing, birds can sing, birds can sing in the tree, in the tree, in the tree, birds can sing in the tree. (Then change into “fly”.) Encourage Ss to sing. 
(Give the students who did well points)
1. Listen carefully and try to get the meaning. Then answer the questions according to the fact.




2. Try to sing the song and show to others.

2.利用“新年好”的曲调将所学内容唱出来,学生记忆深刻效果好。
