How do you go home?
  By car / bike / bus / van / spaceship.

Teaching aims and demands:
1.        Ask and answer question: How do you go home?
2. Understand and respond to commands about directional actions.  
3. Train the students’ interest in learning English and get them to cooperate with each other.

Teaching Progression:
Step 1 Warm-up / Review
1.        Greeting! 
T: How’s the weather?
  How are you today?
Students reply with smiles. The teacher gets students up and asks them to do some warm-up exercise.
2.        Do it. Review the commands which we have learned. For example: Look around. Go to bed. Wave to your friend. Take off your cap. Put on your coat. 
3.        Play a game. Teacher says the commands: Show me car/ bike / bus…Students take out the pictures and do the actions.
4.        Chant it: Bike/bike/ It’s a bike; Bus/bus/It’s a bus; Van/van/It’s a van… 
Step 2 Introduction and Practice: Dialogues
1.        Review Dialogue 3 and Dialogue 4 from Page 15.
T: How do you go home?
Ss: By car.
T: Goodbye!
Ss: See you later.
2.        Practice the dialogues
   ⑴ Teacher shows the computer pictures. Divide the students into two groups. Have one group ask: How do you go home? The other group answers: By… Then change roles and try again.
⑵ Make up similar dialogues, using some communications pictures and taking turns to be each role.
⑶ Play a game: Teacher shows the pictures and asks: How do you go to Beijing? Students listen and guess: By car/plane...
Step 3 Introduction: Actions
1.        Teacher turns her hand to the right side and does the action “Look right.” And models the action twice.
2.        Students repeat the command and do the action after Teacher.
3.        Teacher introduces “Look left.” in the same way.
4.        Teacher asks two students to have a match and introduces “Come here and cross the street.”
Step 4 Practice
1.        Teacher gives these four commands. Ss do the actions together.
2.        Teacher and Students look at the scene and the actions together.
3.        Pair work: One student commands and the other student does.
4.        Volunteers come to the front and do the actions.
Step 5 Wrap-up
1.        Chant it:
Look / Look / Look right. Look / Look / Look left. Come / Come /Come here. Cross /Cross / Cross the street.
Students clap and read the commands. Chant it again. Students do the actions.
2.        Play a game. Teacher shows the numbers 1,2,3,4 with the fingers and Students do the actions. It’s like this : 1,2,3,4; 1,2,3,4; 3 (showing 3 fingers to stand for “Look right.”)The others say: Look right.
3.        Teacher gives several commands. Look right. Look the left… Students do the actions.
4.        Students say the commands themselves.
5.        Check. Teacher does the actions and Students say the commands.
6.        Homework
   ⑴ Make new dialogues with different partners.
   ⑵ Listen to the tape recorder.
Contingencies:
1.        If the lesson is too long, we will do less questions or work.
2.        If the lesson is too short, we will do more questions.
3.        If the lesson is too hard, the teacher gives students more assistance in practice.
4.        If the lesson is too easy, the teacher will speak fast.
Future Modification:
The chant or practice can be connected with other actions.
